One Man Killed In 18-Wheeler Crash

One man was killed after an 18-wheeler accident near Fulshear, Texas. The crash happened on Tuesday, February 7, around 5:20 a.m.

The Fatal Truck Accident

On Tuesday, February 7, a driver of a truck was killed after an accident with a semi-truck at the intersection of FM 359 and FM 1093 in the Fulshear area.

Witnesses of the accident informed authorities that the driver of the 18-wheeler went through a red light.

The truck driver was killed, while the semi-truck driver suffered minor injuries.

During the accident, power poles, a transformer, and traffic signal poles were also hit. This caused power outages in some of the nearby neighborhoods.

Constable Chad Norvell states that the driver of the 18-wheeler is expected to face charges for the accident.

5 Reasons People Try to Run Red Lights

The traffic light system was designed to keep people safe on the road, not only for drivers but also for pedestrians. Drivers know what to do at red lights, but some people still try to run through them for different reasons.

1. Distracted Driving

When drivers are distracted by phones, radios, or passengers, it’s easier to run a red light accidentally. It’s important to always be aware of your surroundings when driving, keep distractions to a minimum, and watch for changing lights.

2. Impatient Driving

When we’re running late for school, work, or appointments, it’s easy to get impatient and try to make it through lights. But stopping at a red light and being a few minutes late is less damage than an accident that occurs because you went through an intersection.

3. Aggressive Driving

Speeding, tailgating, and racing through intersections are types of aggressive driving. Sometimes we get frustrated by traffic, other drivers, or lights not cooperating, and we become more aggressive with our driving. No matter how frustrated you are, driving aggressively and running red lights is never safe.

4. Lack of Sight

If you’re following a large vehicle like an 18-wheeler, it can be challenging to see the light coming up in front of you. If you follow too closely to the semi-truck, you might not know the light has turned red until you’re already in the intersection. Make sure to keep enough distance between you and the vehicle in front of you so that you can see traffic lights in time to stop when necessary.

5. Unclear Signals

Some intersections have poorly designed traffic lights, making it more difficult to understand the signals. If you come up to a traffic signal and you’re not sure which light to follow, take an extra second to interpret the lights and observe other traffic so you can make the correct driving decision.
