Hit-and-Run Accident Near Edinburg Kills Pedestrian
A pedestrian was killed on Sunday, July 2, in an accident with a vehicle near Edinburg. Following the collision, the driver of the vehicle failed to render aid and fled the scene.

The Deadly Hit-and-Run
On Sunday morning at around 4:30 a.m., a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Alamo Road and Wisconsin Road to the east of Edinburg. The pedestrian died as a result of the crash, according to reporting. The driver involved failed to render aid and instead fled the scene of the crash.
The vehicle was later located by Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers at the intersection of Canton Road and Farm-to-Market 907. The silver GMC Sierra was identified by damage sustained to the front left side, as well as blood on the driver’s side of the car. The 40-year-old driver of the vehicle was also identified.
Investigators report that the driver showed signs of intoxication, and he was soon arrested on charges of intoxication manslaughter. He was taken to the Hidalgo County Jail for processing.
The 50-year-old deceased victim has since been identified.
